Steven released this Spotlight in October, 2001
This "Spotlight" is on Danielle Beach, better known to the current denizens of this board by her partial pseudonym, Sailor Danielle (SD). I sometimes teased her by calling her "Danielle #1". This is because the board has two (known) posters with the same name Danielle (though I believe the "other" Danielle spells her name differently).
Sailor Danielle appears to be in the Daria/Trent 'shipper camp, at least that's the impression I developed while reading her fics...
Now, since it's been a little while since my last "Spotlight", I wish to remind you that when I go over Danielle's fics, it'll basically be something sort of a summary, meaning that you'll have to read them for yourselves. Now onward:
"The Christmas Giving" - Trent has something of a personal tragedy happen to him around the Christmas holiday, and he has to be encouraged by Daria and Jane. A nice Christmas-time fic which reaches for the standard holiday miracle.
"Daria + Kyle - Trent = Kaboom" - This is of the tried-and-true 'shipper plot that follows: A new character is introduced (yes, Kyle), and he hits it off with Daria, which drives you-know-who nuts. The slight twist here is that it's Jane's boyfriend Tom doing the introductions.
SD on some occasions on the board expressed a strong affinity for the cancelled MTV animation show (*that* sounds familiar) 'Downtown', even starting a campaign to try and save it. Her adoration results in the crossover "Daria's Downtown Experience", where Daria and crew meet the 'Downtown' "cast".
"Prommies" - Simply put, this is the LHS prom story. (Wonder if "IICY?" will have that?) While Jane is with Tom, Daria's with Trent. Classic D/T(rent) 'shipper fic.
"Trent's Crisis" - This might be SD's best-known 'Daria' fic (to me), if nothing else, she tackled a sensitive, and powerful subject, putting a 'Daria' character right in the middle of it: Trent. What did SD put him in? HIV. When I think about it, I don't recall many, if *any* 'Daria' fics covering this subject. (Please correct me if I'm mistaken) How do Jane and Daria react (hint: in Daria's case, remember, this is a 'shipper fic)? What do his "friends" do when they find out?
"Daria: The College Years" covers OH and co., coping with college. This may represent a trend towards any future 'Daria' fics: the college experience. For some reason, I think this might increase, particularly if "Is It College Yet" leaves the future of the characters in the air. Can you imagine the fertile ground just waiting to be tilled? (Pauses, sighs) Okay, okay, that was a lame description! ;D
Overall, the thing that really impresses me about SD is that she continues to go forward. Despite some of the discouraging things that some out there have said about her writing (and I will NOT name any names), she doesn't quit submitting her work to get published. SD, along with a few others, represents the determined writer, one who never gives up. SD, I salute you, and these other writers. What do YOU (and the writer herself) think? Thanks.

Seriously, I think Steven hit the nail on the head. Your determination to keep writing no matter what has been one of the defining facets of your character. Good job! Hope the "spot" was worth the wait.
