Write to MTV

Write to the following address:

MTV, 1633 Broadway, 31st Floor, New York, NY 10019 USA

and write, briefly, in your own words, why you want Daria on DVD, and what you want to see in the release.

Long story short: Petrel, a denizen of The Paperpusher's Site's Message Board, actually got the gumption to call MTV and ask about the likelihood of a DVD release for Daria. A nice manager at MTV animation told him that Is it Fall Yet? will be released near the series' end, but that there were no firm plans for further releases.

The nice man said the best route to changing minds was to write. On paper. So do it!

Martin Sylvester's tips to successful letter-writing

Write your own letter in your own words, as you would say them. Be polite, of course - you want whoever reads your letter to take you seriously, and to think, "Hmmm, that's another person who'd buy some DVDs if we released them." Being polite doesn't mean your letter has to be stiff and formal!

What should you put in your letter? Here are some suggestions.

  1. Say how much you like Daria.
  2. Say why you like Daria.
  3. Say you'd like to own Daria episodes and movies on DVD. Say why, if you want to.
  4. If you live in North America, say you'd like your fellow Daria fans overseas to be able to enjoy Daria on DVD, and ask for Daria DVDs to be released in a format that can be played on any DVD player in any region.
  5. If you live outside North America, say how disappointed you'd be if Daria DVDs were released in a format that you couldn't play.
  6. Say what special features, if any, you'd like to see on Daria DVDs.
  7. Thank the person who's read your letter for taking the time to read it.

Send your letter to the above address.

If you live in the UK, you can get from the Post Office a combined letter and envelope called an Airletter, which includes air mail postage to the USA. It only costs 40p!

The third season of the original Star Trek only happened because of a fan letter-writing campaign!
