"Where can I buy Daria DVDs?"

Put some effort into giving a TV network your money.

Buying "Is it Fall Yet?" and preordering "Is it College Yet?" on DVD is the best thing you can do to help ensure that all of "Daria" is preserved for the ages and available to you.

This release was thought to be currenly available only in DVD Region 1. However, new information has come to light -- the "Is it Fall Yet?" DVD appears to work in all regions, making it an un-announced REGION 0 RELEASE!

(Note: As IICY won't be released in the US until August 27, 2002, there's no way of knowing whether it, too, will work in all regions. Caveat emptor.)

If you live in the US, go directly to the list of online stores now selling "Is it Fall Yet?"

Fans outside the US have been Daria's best supporters, in terms of buying episodes on VHS. Now, you can prove that you're her best supporters in terms of buying DVDs, too! The following information appeared on the Usenet group alt.tv.daria on Feb. 14, 2002:

Subject: IIFY DVD, something very interesting for uk peeps.
From: "Bettster" climpies@***nospam***.xxxxxxxxxx.co.uk

I've made an interesting discovery. My DVD of IIFY arrived today, and it would appear that it's a region 0 disk !

The disk is labeled region 1 as you'd expect. My dvd player is the type that you can set to a specific region, and I'd left it on region 2. Without thinking I put the daria disk in and it played !

I get the same result with my pc dvd drive set to region 2, so it looks like somebody at mtv has made a mistake somewhere.

Fr. Martin Sylvester soon announced that his copy worked on his Region 2 DVD player with a newer TV. "Bettster" later reported on alt.tv.daria that the darned disc works on equipment set for all six DVD regions. Note that one must have a newer, non "fixed-scan" TV, that can deal with NTSC standard lines of resolution and 60 Hz sync electronically, and is not dependent on the 50 Hz electrical current used outside the US to stabilize the video signal. Sound too technical? Okay, here's the simple version...this should work on all newer TVs and monitors. Read Fr. Martin's much clearer explanation, if I've confused you at all.

Many thanks to these DVDetectives for sussing this out...now, we shall blanket the world with copies of "Is it Fall Yet!" Buying single copies for personal use is apparently okay in the UK, but you will have to pay higher shipping charges and customs duties may apply. Fr. Martin is, of course, miles ahead of me with a list of places to buy the disc in the UK, having already comparison-shopped the cost and shipping. I bet this will work for the rest of Europe and other lands -- if not, let me know.

Daria fans outside the US can also help keep up the pressure by continuing their support of the VHS releases in PAL format. Martin Sylvester's Irony Maiden Video Page also gives you the latest on how to complete your library. Be sure to also write to MTV and politely insist upon DVD releases for your market. DVDaria is not responsible for the content on this outside link, but Fr. Martin is a really good guy, so, no worries. We have no relationship with and accept no responsiblity for any of the retailers mentioned on his pages.
