A release date for IICY? Okay...so I was busy with Real Life (TM) for a while...but I'm back. Hi. Ms. Geek, creator of Lawndale Commons and www.msgeek.com, is a loooong-timer in Daria Fandom. She also has access to special information. You know how "The Cabots speak only to Lodges, and the Lodges speak only to God?" Well, only Ms. Geek speaks to Daria creator Glenn Eichler, as far as I know. And she reported on Usenet group alt.tv.daria on May 6 that MTV/Paramount would definitely release "Is it College Yet?" on DVD: Subject: Re: DVD Be proud of yourselves, folks. And thanks, Ms. Geek. But wait, there's more! Upon reading this yesterday, several weeks late (hey, I was busy), I put a request for information on the Manufacturer's Forum at www.hometheaterforum.com, and got this from the very kind-to-DVD-fans Martin Blythe, who has an impressive title at Paramount's DVD division: We're talking about the end of August. That's great news, right? Well, how about an exact date, from DVDaria's source from deep within Viacom itself? From: "xxxxxx, xxx" [Viacom person] Okay. So, that gives us 98 days in which to do the following: >> WRITE to MTV and say THANK YOU and that you're definitely buying IICY. Thank them also for the extras! Tell them our friends in other DVD regions need Daria, too! >> WRITE to Amazon.com -- the largest online retailer -- by going to this Web site and using the form therein to tell them you want Paramount to put up IICY for preorders as soon as possible, and that you will certainly preorder. Do the same with any other retailers -- online or bricks-n-mortar -- and let them know you want your Daria. >> BUY IT when it comes out. Order one for your kid brother/sister. Order one for the public library. Order one for a drink coaster, if you're stinkin' rich. THE WAY TO A BOXED SET IS THROUGH MASSIVE SALES. >> PROMOTE the upcoming release and eventual preorders on your own site, on message boards, and anywhere else us lonely Daria types congregate. If they haven't signed the petition yet, steer 'em here. We've already surprised and pleased those in control of Daria's future. Show them that this is only the beginning. + And how's IIFY selling? I've got no idea. The people in the company that prepares the DVD's for production have no idea, or ain't telling. I have no way of finding out. Your best gauge remains the accumulated Amazon.com sales rankings for the Is it Fall Yet? DVD using Amazonscan.com. All the bugs seem to have been worked out.
