Fanfiction by C.E. Forman

C.E. Forman considers the Lost Season fanfics representative of an era when Daria fic writing truly exploded for the first time. Following Season Two, the season which snared many fans due to its proven desire to expand the characters, several writers of note burst onto the scene. C.E., himself, made quite a splash: churning out thirteen fanfics in the six months between Seasons Two and Three to comprise a complete Daria season. Each fanfic strove to remain as close to the show as possible, down to small touches like commercial bumpers and scene-changing music, earning C.E. the label of official "canon" writer.
But as he geared up to write Lost Season Two during the Season Three "drought," C.E. found himself dealing with a more crowded fanfic landscape and the desire to have a life in addition to his Daria passion. Thus, after writing "Fireworks," C.E. decided to retire from writing the Lost Seasons for good.

Lost Season One

Daria wins the lottery and soon learns who her true friends are. Meanwhile, Quinn deals with a shoplifting problem.

Daria accompanies Helen to court on "Take Your Daughter to Work Day," and teaches a crabby judge a lesson in jurisprudence. (Also in the Helen-Centric Fanfic Collection.)

Daria volunteers to work at a carwash! Oh, excuse me... Daria gets volunteered to work at a school-sposored carwash, unaware of what humiliation lurks around the corner.

C.E. Forman's take on the Morgendorffers' last days in Highland, which skillfully weaves together the characters from "Daria" and "Beavis and Butt-head."

Quinn thinks she's too fat, and becomes determined to lose weight. Meanwhile Daria and Jane fight over a guy (sound familiar?).

A new smart-mouthed teacher comes to fill in for the ailing Mr. O'Neill, and quickly turns Ms. Li's autocratic policies on their ear. And Tiffany expands her vocabulary!

It's time for the Lawndale Days festival: no one remembers what it's for, but it's got the whole town out celebrating. In turn, it puts several main characters in major binds. What will Daria's cymbals-playing mean for Trent and Mystik Spiral? Will Quinn give in to peer pressure and get wasted with the rest of the Fashion Club? Will Jake find his lost childhood before he loses his sanity? Will Ms. Li's shady deal with a mysterious stranger ever get uncovered? And will we ever find out who the mysterious stranger talking to Daria is?? Part One of Two

Part Two of Two: Five major plotlines from "Rain On Your Parade" get resolved... though not without a few hitches along the way.

Shady IRS agents seize the Lane family house due to Mom and Pop Lane's failure to pay taxes. Trent and Jane must figure out how to live with the Morgendorffers, and Trent gets a lesson in maturity when he fights to get the house back.

Daria, Quinn, Sandi, and other unlucky LHS students get roped into participating in a state debating tournament. Meanwhile Jane stirs up mischief while painting the official school sign, and Tiffany and Stacy try to cope with their leaders' absence.

See Jodie Landon, Ms. Perfect, finally crack under pressure...

Jane plays yenta and convinces Daria to drive Trent to Chez Pierre. Unfortunately the ride doesn't go as smoothly as she'd like.
(Note: I did not derive the name of my continuum specifically from this fanfic, though it is somewhat based on it. To learn the story, read the postscript of my ninth DWU fic, Outvoted.)

In this season finale, Daria attends the funeral of her cynical great-aunt Eleanor. There, she shoots the breeze with Luhrman (Lerman?) and gets a glimpse of just how dysfunctional her family really is. (I make some tie-ins to this fanfic in my two-parter, None in the Family.)

Before the premiere of Lost Season Two, C.E. cobbled together all thirteen episodes from Lost Season One and created a format very similar to the Daria Day formats used to introduce Seasons Two and Three. Along the way, he offered commentary on the each fanfic and the feedback he had received. (A funny aside: because the original "C.E. Forman's Daria Day" had all thirteen fics plus "A Morgendorffer Scorned," the file was so large, some people's browsers crashed before they could download everything.)

Lost Season Two

A Morgendorffer Scorned
Daria gets her first taste of real criticism from a guest instructor in her English class.

Quinn and Sandi's Fashion Club rivarly finally comes to a heated climax after Sandi goads Quinn into cutting her hair.

The last of the Lost Season fanfics. Jake tells Daria, Quinn, Jane, and Trent the story of how he met Helen. There's a lot of groovy Sixties history woven in, along with several touching moments, as Jake grows from a timid, resentful boy into... well, a timid, resentful man. (You can also find this fic in the Helen-Centric Fanfic Collection.)
