I did these drawings during my high school years. As you can see, I am very into texture, and oil-based pencils are my favorite drawing tools.
1) I did this when I was 14. It was based on a story I was writing at the time, about Celts in Ancient Britain. The entire canvas was too big to fit completely over my scanner, so I just scanned the most interesting part. The texture was primarily cross-hatching and dots all done with an ink pen tip as thin as a needle. It goes without saying that it took for-eh-ver. I don't think the .jpg does it justice, but you'll get an idea.

2) I did this when I was 15 or 16, and it was based on the same Celtic story as the one I mentioned above. I never finished the story, but I got some great images. ; > I'm tempted to add a little more depth of shading, but sometimes it's nice to see where you fall short so you know whether you've improved.

3) I did this when I was 17, for a novel that I am still tinkering with (the first draft was completed when I was 18). I like its colors and its slightly surreal body shapes. The red background is supposed to represent unspoken passion, while the blue represents the coolness of social restrictions. Funny thing is, I'm not sure that's what I meant for it to be when I started it!

4) I did this when I was 17 to satisfy my AP exam requirements. Just some random objects from my room that I tossed together, including a molding of a face on a can, which I had done to try and see how light and shadow fell on the face.
