Other Thoughts:
- Two words: happy dough.
- You know the show's f***ed when they have to rely on characters from
the parent show to bail them out. Can you remember a single episode where
someone from Daria DIDN'T appear???
- When Amy created that dough that made everyone high, and then didn't
get arrested or anything. Like hello? Drug laws, you stupid writers!!!
You can't #$@%ing sell drugs in America! That's when I knew this show
wasn't even trying to be realistic, so I stopped watching right then and
there.
- this show never jumped. the main chicks have big jugs and that's why
I watch.
- AMY BARKSDALE IS SO #$@%!ING HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SHE
RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- April 18, 2000.
- I'd have to say when Kristovo became a regular character. Before
then, this was *supposed* to be a show about an empowered woman escaping
from her violent ex-boyfriend. But at soon as Amy settles down in her new
home, she falls for *another* guy who abuses her. Okay, so Kristovo
doesn't threaten to kill her the way the mobster guy did, but he abuses her
mentally. He is SO condescending. He always toys with her when she asks
if they're in a relationship. In that one where he meets his twin sister,
first he forgets their goddamn anniversary (knowing him, now that he knows
he's been in a relationship that long, he'll run out the back door
screaming), then he spends half of the episode pissed off at Amy for no
reason. Then he gawks like a pig at her near nakedness, and finally he
blames Amy for killing his sister WHO TRIED TO KILL HER FIRST. Then in the
next episode, he's falling all over Rita, but then golly gee! he has a last
minute TV-style change of heart and makes up with Amy. I sincerely hope
that if the writers *have* to put Amy with a guy, they find one who
actually appreciates her. Kristovo only seems to like her for her body.
Would he be dating her if she hadn't had plastic surgery?
- This show jumped when:
- Amy forgot her expert martial art skills in the pilot ep. and had to be
conveniently rescued by her future adopted daughter, Andrea.
- The characters from Daria kept showing up, and they didn't even get the
personalities right. Helen isn't THAT big a bitch, you idiots! And since
when would Jesse be interested in Andrea?? Jess can't even handle Jane,
and she's much tamer.
- When every episode became a pageant of big budget special effects. It
was bad enough when the pilot had a blown up subway train (which looked
totally unrealistic, btw.), but then they had an episode where Amy's on
this hyjacked submarine with more lamely-rendered Daria characters,
followed by one where a volcano almost blows up the town! Too bad they
didn't spend that money to hire some better writers.
- The shark gobbled this piece of shit up whole, then spit it out,
before it even hit the airwaves. Who the hell thought that this would make
a good spin-off from Daria?!!! Abysmally Amy (as my friends and I call it)
is TOTALLY different from that show. Okay, so Daria is totally different
from Beavis and Butthead, but SO WHAT?????? Amy is a million times
different from Aunt Amy on Daria, who kicked so much ass. Your telling me
their supposed to be the same person???? Aunt Amy was smart and sarcastic
and cool, while this Amy is a total MORON who tries to act smart, but it
just makes her seem stupider. Okay, so Daria was more social on Beavis and
Butthead and she seemed to be more grown up, but SO WHAT?????? The point
is that this show is really lame, and the people who made it should be
punished by getting locked in a prison cell and having to watch the
episodes over and over again.
- They should never have let a show about women be written by a man.
- To the person who complained that AA sucks because it didn't pay heed
to real life American drug laws: read my lips. It is a CARTOON. Real life
30-year-olds don't have moves like Amy's -- not unless they work out 5
hours a day, 7 days a week, and take karate and gymnastics on the side. Do
we *ever* see Amy working out to keep that body in shape? NO. But because
she's a cartoon, the artists can keep drawing her with a perfect figure.
Real life people also can't adopt kids as quickly as Amy could; they'd have
to go through a screening process first. If the show's creators had
*wanted* AA to be realistic, they would have made it live-action. Cartoons
don't HAVE to go by the same rules as live-action shows. If you want
realism, don't watch cartoons. You're as bad as those Daria fans who
complain that Depth Takes a Holiday was a piece of sh** garbage because it
was fantasy and Daria's supposed to be "realistic."
- this show really jumped in the 4th episode when Amy didnt say the
sarcasm line. thats my favorite line on the show and when she didnt say it
i felt really betrayed.
- I'm embarrassed to admit that I like this show. The characters are
HILARIOUS, especially Amy and Andrea. And I get burning hot sensations
between my thighs whenever Kristovo comes on screen.
- Aburptly Amy wasn't on long enuff to JTS. Didn't it start out on
CBS, and then they cancelled it, but Lifetime picked it up and ran the
first 8 episodes, and then *it* cancelled the show??
- is it just me, or do Andrea and Rita look really dykey? i have a
feeling the writers will put them together before the end of the season.
hell, they're not really aunt and niece.
- Amy Barksdale is just Ally McBeal with a gun. I hate Ally, and I
hate Amy a thousand times more. Both of you EAT SOMETHING for crying out
loud!
- This show never jumped IMO. It'll earn its place in classic TV
history as one of the great cheesy cartoons of our time. How could you not
laugh at the way Amy's personality does a complete 180 from one scene to
the next? She's an FBI agent with a Ph.D? Right, and Ally McBeal's a
Harvard-educated lawyer. You have to believe that the writers are winking
at us the entire time they put together the scenes. I'll bet that when the
show ends its run (has it already been cancelled?), the writers will reveal
that they were totally yanking our chains! And what a grand ol' yank it
was.
- I hope they nuke Kristovo and find Amy a real man.
- I thought *I* was the only one who saw a potential lesbian
relationship between Andrea and Rita. Or between Amy and that Corona
woman. Andrea's 18, so she's the age of consent, and Rita's only 10 years
older than her. I think this show could handle a lesbian relationship in
an interesting way. I mean how can you have so many single women on the
show and *not* make one of them a lesbian?
- To you guys who wonder whether the characters on AA are lesbians:
GIVE IT A REST!!!!!!! You're as bad as the Daria fans who obsess over
whether Jane Lane is a closet lesbian. We have absolutely NO evidence that
any of the Barksdale women lean that way. Amy sure seems to enjoy having
her way with Kristovo. Rita might be one, but having failed relationships
with men doesn't make you a lesbian. Andrea had sex with Jesse Moreno
(which I STILL can't believe) and is dating that Ryan kid. Just because
Andrea dresses like a Goth doesn't mean she's a lesbian for Crissakes. If
she is one, that's great, but don't spend every minute of the day obsessing
about it.
- Believe it or not, I think it was a wise decision on the writers'
part to not make Amy like the Amy from Daria. Because THAT Amy was nothing
more than a grown-up version of Daria Morgandorpher and if they did a show
about her, they might as well have called it Daria: the Later Years. This
way Amy is more her own character and I think she kicks ass.
- Gawd, the guy who created Daria must be rolling over in his grave if
he's dead. This show totally f#$%@ed up one of the only cool adults on
that show and then f$%#@^ed up everything else it touched. It must be
stopped before it hurts again.
- I'm confused. How can Kristovo's long-lost sister be his "only known
family" when just a couple of episodes earlier, we saw his cousin was Jesse
Moreno?
- Those of you who rag on Abruptly Amy are F***ING IDIOTS!!!!!! You're
just whining cuz your precious Daria's show will go bye-bye soon while
Amy's still showing the shits of the world who's boss! You think Daria's
so f***ing great? She can't even make a decision by herself. Her mom and
best friend are always telling her what to do. Gee and you think Amy cant
ever make up her own mind? Daria has no life cuz all she cares about is
what her annoying sister is doing. Too bad she cares so much cuz no one
else does. And now they gave her a boyfriend just to prove she's not a
dyke. Meanwhile Amy's 150% woman and doing the work of 10 people to be
there for her family and keep the town safe. Daria is sour and lazy. I
hope what happened in that Cracked cartoon comes true and she really does
get that stick removed from her ass.
- ANDREA needs her own show!!!!! SHE RULES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
- The day Amy lost her bra in that copter fight was the day feminism
received its death blow.
- Three cheers for the people who hate Kristovo!!!!!! I think he is
one of the WORST male characters in television history!!!!!!! Who else
here thinks Amy should toss him out on his sorry Cuban ass?? And am I the
only one who thinks Ruth is really annoying?
- The show JTS in a major way when Andrea lost her virginity to Jesse
MorONo from "Daria." Before then I thought AA was pretty lame, but I liked
the character of Andrea. She was smart, level-headed, and could kick-ass
without being whiny like Amy. Not only that, she seemed to have a genuine
sense of who she was without having to cater to the teeny-boppers
standards. But all that went out the window the minute she did it with
dumb-as-a-post Moreno. Were the writers trying to make her seem more
mainstream or something? Then it led to this really trumped-up abortion
episode which had a cop-out ending, so it was all for nothing. To make
matters worse, just a couple of episodes later, Andrea gets all offended
when that Ryan kid tries to kiss her. Can we say "hypocracy" boys and
girls?
- DARIA IS THE COOLEST SHOW ON EARTH IT IS PERFECT UNLIKE ACIDTRIP AMY
WHICH IS LIKE EPISODE AFTER EPISODE OF DEPTH TAKES A HOLIDAY THE ONLY
IMPERFECT DARIA EPISODE WHICH IS STILL A MILLION TIMES MORE PERFECT THAN
IDIOTLY AMY GOD WHO THOUGHT THE TITLE UP??????????? DON'T YOU EVER SAY
ANOTHER BAD THING ABOUT DARIA IF YOU DO YOU SHOULD ROT IN HELL WITH THE
OTHER DIRTBAGS DARIA IS PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT
PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT
PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT PERFECT DON'T YOU
DARE SAY ITS NOT CUZ IT IS
- I hate Kristovo and I hate Ruth too. Kristovo just likes Amy for her
T&A. Ruth never supports her daughters. She's always criticizing them,
then she gets into trouble and Amy has to bail her out of it. Ruth loves
the best that bitch daughter who came in one ep and tried to make Amy lose
custody of Andrea??? PUH-LEASE.
- It's obvious I'm going to have to take the plunge and be the Kristovo
defender here. First, to the people who think Kristovo only likes Amy for
her boobs: what, you think Amy dates him for his MIND? Amy's just as horny
as Kristovo is, if not more so. Kristovo's a real saint to put up with
such a brat. He always supports her whenever she starts crying, which is
like every other minute.
- To the person who criticised those other people for talking about
lesbians: what's wrong with talking about lesbians? Are you uncomfortable
or something with homosexuality? I think you should get over it, because
lesbianism is just a part of life. We don't know that Amy, Rita, and
Andrea aren't lesbians maybe they ALL are. And if YOU don't like it, maybe
you should stick to watching the 700 Club and Leave It to Beaver and all
the other right-wing nazi shows out there.
- Kristovo must be dumber than Homer Simpson if he has to be told Bugs
Bunny isn't a real live rabbit.
- God I hate this show. For me it jumped in the first ten minutes of the
pilot, when Amy jumped into bed with her FBI boss who said she reminded him
of his sister. EWWWWW!!!
- To the person who criticized the other person who criticized those
other pple about talking about lesbanism: who the #$@%@ died and made you
dictator? You have NO right to tell that person how to act. He/she wasn't
even criticizing lesbianism, but the way people were making such a big
issue about it when there wasn't a whole lot of evidence to support it. If
you can't accept other people's opinions, maybe YOU should go #$@#@%!$
yourself.
- This show is an abomination, and deserves to go down in infamy with
other abominations like the X-Show and the Man Show. At least those shows
don't pretend to be anything other than what they are, which is T&A eye
candy for horny male viewers. This show tries to be family entertainment
and fails miserably.
- i dunno. i liked this show during the first few epasodes but then they
started drawing Amy fatter and i lost intrest.
- My ideal match-up would be Amy Barksdale against Xena. Amy can do her
karate kicks and Xena can do those somersaults. Talk about girl power!
Yi-yi-yi-yi-yiiiiiiiiii!
- Does anyone else have a serious problem with Rita??? She's as pretty
and smart as Amy, but she wastes her time whining about what she doesn't
have. There were those couple of episodes when she tried to make her life
better (the one w/ the bar, the one w/ the snowman, and maybe another) but
in the next expisode, she slides back into her helpless routine. She's
like some dippy female from the 50's, a terrible role model for young girls
with low self-esteem, and the people who created her character should be
ashamed of themselves.
- AMY VS XENA?!?!?! YOU CALL THAT "GIRL POWER"?!?!?! XENA COULD CRUSH
AMY WITHOUT BREAKING A SWEAT. SO COULD BUFFY. SO COULD WONDER WOMAN. SO
COULD OLIVE OIL.
- Xena could never kill Amy because Amy is a CARTOON! And the artists
did NOT draw Amy fatter; Amy's body shape hasn't changed since the pilot.
Why the hell would they draw her fatter?
