VCR Tapes and DVD's

The pilot for Abruptly Amy became available in stores a few weeks after its premier. I guess my biggest complaint is that the original music is gone, and the original soundtrack has been replaced by a track laid down by group of studio musicians that sound like a drunken Mariachi band. The sound quality is poor in several places, and my copy had tracking problems when played back, but if you didn't get a chance to tape the original, then this is a good as it gets. Click the BuyStuffOnline.com icon to order your copy today!

I have many of the same issues with the release of the first three episodes as I did with the pilot. Once again, the original music has been replaced with a poor studio mix. I'd like to kill the joker who replaced the "Eve of Destruction" backdrop that played in the climatic sub battle scene in Windy City Walkabout with what sounds like a horn rendition of "Alley Cat". Same complaints about quality as with the A New Beginning release. But if you have nothing, you should add this one to your video collection!

Ah, the DVD release! Same crappy soundtrack as the tapes, but the video quality is great, and the DVD contains the pilot, the first three episodes, some cut scenes, Spanish and French translations, and a directors commentary that can be listened to as the episodes play. When I turned on the commentary,  Alan begins, rambling on aimlessly at first, but becoming more talkative as the different epsiodes progress. I kept hearing a popping sound during his commentary. I though at first it was some defect in the recording, but I finally recognized it as the sound of beer cans being opened. Towards the end of Walkabout his voice is distinctly slurred, and at the end of the release he can be heard sobbing and muttering "what the hell was I thinking of? what? oh God help me" and then cursing to himself.

The "cut" scenes are a riot! Gone from Corona, Corona is a thong scene that is so risqué that it needs to be seen to be believed. Also shown is a love scene between Amy and Kristovo cut from A.A. AOK that is just too kinky for television! There are a bunch of others! Click on the icon! Buy it for these scenes alone!

Other Amy Merchandise

Here's the little gift item that was responsible for bringing right wing Christian's womens groups together with the more leftist feminist crowd. Amy's Crime Fighters Utility belt proved to be one of the most controversial Christmas gifts last year! The "crime stoppers manual" that accompanied the belt stated that the "makeup" kit had a makeup base that was "tear proof, water proof, and acid proof, a real boon to the fashionable crime investigator". Another thing that made Mom mad was series of different talcum powers, in different colors, for "lifting prints, and always looking your best". The belt also contained hot pink handcuffs and a pink nightstick, because "that's how you hold on to a hunk like Kristovo!".

The religious crowd probably objected to the hot pink birth control pill dispenser with the Abruptly Amy logo on it. "A crime fighter is always prepared" the manual that comes with the belt proclaims. And so you are!

Here's an item inspired by Amy's sister Rita, and her encounter with Alcoholics Anonymous! It's a key chain sized "Pocket Sponsor" for recovering alcoholics on the go! Need advise? Press a button that corresponds with one of the twelve steps for quotes from the "Big Book"! Touch a button, and hear advise from your own personal electronic sponsor!

It has a recording capability of over 10 minutes, enough for dictating a complete moral inventory! It also comes complete with a years worth of A.A. meeting schedules for the entire country! And if that's not enough, it can store the phone numbers of all your fellow A.A's!

It also comes complete with a key ring, knife, bottle opener, and cork screw.

The TrueType font available below is called "stencil" It is popular because it comes remarkably close to the military style credits in the series (and this site!).
