On  Daria, Trent is best known as the handsome, lethargic musician whom Daria had a crush on in Seasons One through Three.  While his compatibility with  Daria will forever be questionable, Trent proved he did have
several good qualities, such the ability to give helpful advice every once in a while ("Dye! Dye! My Darling") or to perceive things that others couldn't ("Fire!").

Abruptly Amy hoped to win over the sizeable Daria 'shipper crowd by inviting Trent to be in "Disaster Strikes!" at the same time as Tom Sloan.  They thought if they could make Tom sufficiently evil, and Trent the hero, the 'shippers would decide they really liked the new spinoff, and stick around long enough to boost its ratings.  Unfortunately, the 'shippers complained that Trent came across as clueless and slept too often... something he never did on the parent show!  They organized a boycott of the rest of the episodes.
