Although the flames, pitchfork, hooves, and glowing eyes were just added to give the bio shot some jazz, suffice it to say that the creators of Abruptly Amy were so incensed by Tom Sloan, they didn't even think him deserving of that "e" at the end of his last name. Tom is so evil that on Daria, he duped Jane Lane into going out with him ("Jane's Addition"). Then he duped Daria into falling for him ("Fire!", "Dye! Dye! My Darling"). Then he duped Jane into getting mad at Daria, when scarcely a negative word had passed between them over four seasons. Then he duped Jane into running off to an artists' colony ("Is It Fall Yet?") so he could have more time alone with Daria to fill her mind with impure thoughts. (And supposedly he also told Kevin and Brittany that the audience wanted them to be on screen as much as possible.) Is there nothing this sleazy interloper won't stoop to?! Whereas on Daria Tom managed to keep the characters from discovering his true nature, on Abruptly Amy his evilness comes out in full force! In "A.A. A.O.K.," we learn that he hooked up with Daria as part of Helen's wicked agenda to turn Daria into a conformist. In "Disaster Strikes!", he nearly destroys Rutherford as part of a volcano-building scheme. As expected, his favorite word is "evil." |
