Danziger, who served as principal of Rutherford High while the Barksdale sisters attended, has always been a major thorn in Amy's side.  Back when she was an overweight teenager, Danziger ridiculed Amy's appearance and
derided her attempts to move out of Helen's shadow.  As Mayor of Rutherford, Danziger's corruption led him to join forces with Big Harv in an attempt to turn the town into a mega-metropolis ("A New Beginning").

Yet once the Barksdales' "happy dough" started attracting more visitors and revenue, he just as promptly severed his ties with the businessman. Although he rarely goes out of his way to make trouble for Amy, Danziger remains someone to be regarded with suspicion, given his desire for self-preservation above all else.
