Chief and Amy had a very close relationship -- in some cases, sexual -- as two crime fighters dedicated to stamping out their city's corruption.  When Amy's house exploded, it was Chief who urged her to go "wherever your heart may lead you."  Yet Amy soon found out that Chief had devious plans for the city once she was gone: to join forces with Scruffy Joe and put the city under mob rule.  She was fortunately able to put a stop to his schemes before too much damage was done... but who knows for how long.
